Float Through Summer

An Inside Look at Ozark Outdoors Riverfront Resort

Want to escape the city and enjoy the beautiful summer weather? Ozark Outdoors Riverfront Resort is “a whole other world, just a short drive away”. Located an hour outside of Saint Louis, this lush oasis has “something fun for everyone”, according to Manager Tera Bass. The mile-and a-half-long property is situated near three rivers—the Meramec, Huzzah and Courtois that provide countless adventurous activities such as canoeing, kayaking and tubing.

Ozark Outdoors’ most-popular activity is the 1 Day Canoe/Kayak/Raft trip that takes guests five miles downstream the Meramec River. Relax in a raft, paddle in a canoe, set your own pace in a kayak or sit back in a tube. Don’t worry if you don’t have any experience canoeing or rafting. It’ a flat river, making it perfect for beginners. The Meramec River has full swimming holes where you can hop in on a hot day.

Campers can stay in one of Ozark’s cabins or can park an RV or set up a tent on one of the campsites. “The campgrounds are divided into Late Night and Family Area,” says Bass, “The only difference is the family area has different quiet hours. Each campsite comes equipped with a picnic table and a fire ring with a grill.” If you’re camping and realize you forgot some important necessities, you can head on over to the Meramec Mercantile—a one-stop-shop for sunblock, bug spray, sunglasses, snacks, outdoor gear, health and beauty items and more.

Visitors will never be bored at Ozark. “We have a swimming pool, sand volleyball, horseshoes, and drive-in style movies on the weekends,” says Bass. “Paddle’s Grill, our restaurant is also open on the weekends for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We also have a brand-new aerial park featuring 36 elements and 6 ziplines.” In addition, guests can hike, bike and fish.

Every weekend is a great weekend at the Resort, but perhaps the best time to visit is the Annual 93.7 The Bull Float Trip. 2017 marks the 15th year of this event that features three nights of country concerts. This year’s lineup includes: Granger Smith featuring Earl Dibbles Jr, Michael Ray, Luke Combs, Lauren Alaina, Drew Baldridge, Adam Craig, Whiskey Dixon and Brospeh E. Lee.  Packages can be purchased online or by phone.
