Historic Zoar Village was established in 1817 by German immigrants escaping religious persecution and searching for their safe haven. In 1819, the villagers banded together to form the Society of Separatists of Zoar, choosing to live communally until the Society’s dissolution in 1898.

Today, Historic Zoar Village is a National Historic Landmark, retaining much of its original architecture and appearance.

    Celebrate the coming of spring with a traditional German festival filled with beers, brats and bands.  Attend the German Car Show featuring a variety of antique German-made vehicles. Car owners can register the day of or can pre-register by calling 330-874-3011 or by emailing zoarinfo@historiczoarvillage.com. Maifest is free to all visitors. Guided tours of Zoar Village are available during Maifest for the discounted price of $5 per adult and free for children 11 and under.
