Three Presidents have stayed in the Saxton-McKinley home; Rutherford B. Hayes, James A. Garfield, and William McKinley.
Three First Ladies have visited the site; Roslynn Carter in 1998 when the Saxton House opened, Hillary Clinton in 1999 to kick-off the Save America’s Treasures grant that helped restore the Research and Education Center, and Laura Bush in 2003 to dedicate the Research and Education Center.
The Research and Education Center is situated in an 1895 restored bank building.
